Mr. Arpan Chakravarty, B.A. LLB (Hons), LLM (Gold Medalist), is a legally trained academic and a national security professional. He has worked as a G20 Fellow with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, The Peninsula Foundation (Chennai) as a Research Officer, and as an Honorary Assistant Director- Strategy for the Alexis Group in India. His research interests include law, national security, and South Asian countries’ foreign affairs. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Defence Correspondent Course 2022, a flagship course run by the Ministry of Defence, India. Recently, he was selected as a Young Leader for Pacific Forum CSIS, a US-based think tank working on matters of Indo-Pacific affairs.
He previously interned at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA); the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), an autonomous Indian Army think tank; the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI); and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) among the others.
He is a Contributing Editor (National Security & Foreign Affairs) at The Pulse India, a digital publication with a following of more than 98k audience base.
He is multilingual and zealous about teaching and advancing law, national security, and foreign affairs scholarship in India and abroad. He has delivered lectures at various national and international universities and Institutions across the globe.
He is a firm believer of collaboration for the purpose of developing long-term trust-based relationships, which has been his driving force.
Previously, as President of the Network for International Law Students, India (NILS), he has led efforts to establish the organization and served as Student Director for other high-profile events such as the World Law Conclave (https://www.worldlawconclave.com/) and the Frankfurt International Arbitration Moot Competition in India for two consecutive years.
He collaborates with fast-paced teams, manages crises, and solves problems. Additionally, he is committed to evidence-based policymaking and governance in India. Finally, his multilingual skills help him connect with a broader audience across a vibrantly diverse country like India.
